Youth Development Nonprofit Youthentity Partners With National Center for Construction Education and Research

Construction students can now earn industry certifications through Youthentity’s recognition as an NCCER Approved Testing Site

CARBONDALE, CO---August 10, 2020: Youthentity, the Carbondale-based nonprofit serving Western Slope youth with financial literacy education and career exploration opportunities, is proud to partner with the National Center for Construction Education and Research to provide training and certification opportunities for young people throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. As an Approved Testing Site for the NCCER, students who participate in Youthentity’s Structure Design & Building Industry Career Academy now have the chance to earn NCCER credentialing and certification through the program.

“Thanks to the letters of support we received from Gould Construction, Gallegos and Casey Concrete, our NCCER application was approved quickly, which will allow us to offer this opportunity to students during the 2020-21 academic year. Our goal is to help students explore jobs and careers while giving them the opportunity to earn industry certifications through participation in experiential, hands-on learning opportunities,” stated Youthentity Executive Director Kirsten McDaniel. “This partnership with NCCER will bring even more value to students, and will give them an edge when entering the workforce.”

A not-for-profit 501(c)(3) education foundation created in 1996, The Alachua, Florida-based National Center for Construction Education and Research was founded with the support of more than 125 construction CEOs and various association and academic leaders who united with the shared goal of revolutionizing training for the construction industry. In striving to develop a safe and productive workforce, standardized training and credentialing program were created for the industry as a whole. This progressive program has evolved into curricula for more than 70 craft areas and a complete series of more than 70 assessments offered in over 6,000 NCCER-accredited training and assessment locations across the United States.

Youthentity students who choose to pursue and complete NCCER trainings and certifications will receive a transcript, certificate and an initial wallet card for easy verification of training. These courses are also required prerequisites for other NCCER trainings and certifications such as concrete finishing, construction technology and electrical work. Youthentity’s Career Academy & YE University program is a year-long, for-credit program for high school students throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and is offered in three career tracks: Structure Design & The Building Industry, Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management, and Animal & Human Health Services. Career Academy is accepting eligible students for the 2020-21 academic year. Students are encouraged to apply at Youthentity.org, or enroll through their school’s guidance counselor.
