Youthentity Culinary Team Wins State Championship, Heads to Nationals
Youthentity’s Culinary Competition Team has once again proven their talent by winning first place at the 2025 Colorado ProStart® Student Invitational! Ananda Lavender (Roaring Fork High School Senior), Dilia (Evony) Mejia (Roaring Fork High School Junior), and Ella Thornel (Glenwood Springs High School Senior) worked together to claim the state championship title, marking Youthentity’s sixth state win. This victory advances them to the National ProStart Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland, where they will compete against the best high school culinary teams in the country this May.
“This victory showcases the incredible talent and dedication of our students,” said Chef Matt Maier. “Ananda, Evony, and Ella have put in countless hours refining their skills, and it’s inspiring to see their hard work pay off.”
Beyond competition, this achievement opens doors to scholarships and connections with industry professionals. Over the years, Youthentity’s Culinary & Hospitality Career Academy graduates have earned over $1 million in scholarships and secured placements at top culinary institutions like Johnson & Wales and the Culinary Institute of America.
This success reflects not only the dedication of our students but also the exceptional mentorship provided by Chef Matt Maier, Chef Joe Daboul, and Program Director Samantha Freese. Their guidance has been instrumental in shaping these young chefs’ futures.
Youthentity’s Career Academies continue to offer hands-on learning experiences that lead to real career opportunities. With our Construction Academy also competing at SkillsUSA for the first time this year, students across programs are gaining valuable industry exposure, certifications, and pathways to success.
